Heptapeptide-7 is a synthetic peptide identified with the sequence Met-Gly-Arg-Asn-Ile-Arg-Asn, derived from the peptide HB-107, known for its wound-healing and anti-aging attributes. Although HB-107, itself a derivative of the murine peptide Cecropin B, does not possess antimicrobial action, it effectively accelerates cutaneous wound healing by stimulating keratinocyte hyperplasia and promoting leukocyte infiltration through IL-8 production by endothelial cells. Ex vivo studies have indicated that Heptapeptide-7 aids in the proliferation and migration of keratinocytes, boosts collagen production in fibroblasts, and displays EGF-like activity, facilitating dermal regeneration. Microarray analyses have revealed that skin keratinocytes treated with Heptapeptide-7 exhibit enhanced division rates and increased expression of genes related to growth factors and extracellular matrix components. In a clinical study involving participants with a mean age of 54, the application of Heptapeptide-7 demonstrated notable improvements in reducing forehead wrinkles and enhancing overall skin texture. When incorporated into skincare formulations through a liposomal delivery system, Heptapeptide-7, marketed as Gransome Heptapeptide-7, contributes to improved skin elasticity, combats sagging, and supports skin regeneration, resulting in a youthful, healthy, and radiant appearance.
